MMU Charity Run 2012 - Top 10 Results

This event was organised by MMU Taekwondo Club. It maybe due to less publicity, only about 400 participants joined in this event, not many Melaka students joined too. Even though it was a small charity run and only 3 cash prizes allocated, but still could see about 5 Kenyan male runners. It might be due to this reason, some local runners pull-out and some decided not to register at last minutes. So not surprising, top 5 male open were sapu by Kenyan. These type of small charity run should restricted to local runners to encourage more local participants to raise more fund.

The route is 7.5km but hilly. Due to inexperience of the organizer, the event flag-off late by 25 minutes, winners were not giving position card, many runners were not aware that they were in top 10 position and entitled to receive a medal, result listings without winners name even though they have ample time to check from the master list. Initially they group all male and female veteran in one category, only during prize presentation, they announced a special prize for top 3 female veteran winners. But by that time, 1st runner-up has gone home. More female veteran would join should they have separate the category earlier in the registration form. Some unnecessary speeches should be eliminated and the Akido and Taekwondo performances should start earlier so that the prizes presentation and lucky draw could carried out much earlier.

Nevertheless kudos to MMU Taekwondo club for their effort in organizing this event and managed to raise RM5000 for the Mentally Disable Children Centre. The medal was in good quality and the t-shirt design was better than some others event. Hopefully next year the club will organize it again with improvement and raise more fund for charity.
