- To pay tribute to all the Mountain Guides of Mount Kinabalu (also knwn as Malim Gunung)
- To honor the 4 unsung heroes who give their lives for the safety of climbers whom they regarded as their guests
- To raise fund for the families and next of kins of the fallen Malim of Mount Kinabalu
- To be in solidarity with the people of Sabah especially those who are directly affected by the earthquake
